South Ayrshire Libraries has launched a new free eBook service, which can be accessed from home. All you need is a computer, an internet connection, a valid South Ayrshire Library card and PIN.
eReads are downloadable books and audio books, which you can read or listen to on your computer and / or on a mobile device such as an eBook reader, mobile phone, ipod, or MP3 player. You can browse the eReads website or search it for specific books. Up to 4 titles can be borrowed at any one time. Choose how long you want to download each one for - 7 days, 14 days, or 21 days. If a book is checked out, you can put it in your "wish list" and you will be emailed when it comes available.

Playaways are the newest way to listen to your favourite books 'on the go'. Playaways are an audiobook and player all-in-one. They are lightweight and small so they are easily carried around. Each one comes preloaded with an entire story in digital sound quality, so you don't need CD's or cassettes. Playaways have an automatic bookmark function so they will remember your place when they are turned off. You can even control the speed of the narrator's voice.
Our collection is currently housed at Alloway, Carnegie, Coylton, Forehill, Girvan, Maybole, Prestwick and Troon libraries. There is a mix of both adult and children's titles to choose from. We will be adding new titles each month and requests can be made.
